A British Champion in 2014? Dare we hope?

After Lewis Hamilton’s success at the Bahrain Grand Prix, dare we Brits hope he could take the crown again?

After losing a promising prospect this year, Paul di Resta, due to politics and money (one assumes), we are left with three hopefuls. And i use the word loosely.

I am always going to be a die hard Button fan, as many of my articles/blogs will prove, but watching his progress since his Championship in the year of Brawn 2009 I can only despair that i get to watch my favourite driver trail, fail and conk out with engine, wheel or some other technical failure. But i forever dream and pray for a day where he and his McLaren will triumph.

Our third Brit, Mr. Chilton, bless him, has a fantastic record of finishing, but seems to fluke his way closer to the front by way of other drivers crashing out. He usually finishes last but we Brits do love a trier.

And then our main man. Lewis Hamilton. Whether you love him or hate him this is the man we pin our hopes on. And as he trails his team mate, Nico Rosberg, by 11 points, can we hope that this is the year of Brawn again?

The Mercedes team is of course what was Brawn and so is Lewis the Jenson of this year, or is he the Barrichello? Is he the one who gets so so close with a handful of poles and a win or two, or does he dominate his team mate and finish on top.

With three races down he sits in a semi-comfortable second place, but is he just warming up. Time will tell, I know what I’m hoping for though.
